Maiton Island

Maiton island is also known as Mai Thon, and as Honeymoon island. It is located only 15 to 20 minutes by speedboat from Phuket and is about 2.5 km across at its widest point. The island boasts beautiful golden beaches and palm trees, as well as pristine waters that are amazingly clear. It has lots of colorful fish and vibrant coral reefs.

10:30 AM: Depart from Laem Nga pier by comfortable and spacious Catamaran Speedboat to Phi Phi islands.


11:30 AM: Arrive at Loh Samah Bay, at the southern tip of Koh Phi Phi Leh island.

Walk to Maya Bay, where the famous Hollywood movie “The Beach” was filmed. Spend time relaxing on the pure white sand of this famous beach.

Please Note:
The Thai government closes Maya Bay for two months every year, usually from 1st August to 30th September, to protect its natural resources. During these two months:

  • You may walk in the water up to knee-depth only
  • No swimming allowed in Maya Bay.


Next stop is Pileh Lagoon. Enjoy swimming and snorkeling in the lagoon’s beautiful emerald waters and take pictures of its towering limestone cliffs.

Proceed with sightseeing outside Viking cave.


13.30 PM: Enjoy a tasty lunch at a beachside restaurant on Phi Phi Don Island (Ton Sai Bay) and relax on the beach.


15.00 PM: Visit Monkey Beach.
Snorkel or swim around Monkey Bay.


16.00 PM: Depart to Maiton island.
(Note: Maiton island is privately owned and this tour will not go on to the island itself; instead we visit the crystal clear water near the island.)


17:00 PM: Arrive at Maiton island area.
Snorkel in the pristine waters or have fun with the boat’s waterslide, paddle board, clear kayak and floating mat.


18.30 PM: Depart from Maiton Island to Phuket.
Enjoy the beautiful tropical sunset along the way.


18.50 PM: Arrive at Laem Nga Pier in Phuket and transfer back to your accommodation.

Phi Phi islands

The spectacular Phi Phi Islands are a famous island group in Thailand, situated between the large island of Phuket and the Straits of Malacca coast of Thailand. They are around 40 kilometers southeast of Phuket and form part of the Hat Noppharat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, which is home to an abundance of corals and marine life. The islands feature large limestone mountains with cliffs, caves and long white sandy beaches.
The name of the Phi Phi Islands comes from the Malay language. Phi Phi island was origianlly called “Pulau-Api-Api” which translates to “fiery island”. This name refers to the many grey mangroves which are found in abundance in on the islands. The grey mangrove trees are called Pokok Api-Api (“fiery tree”) in Malay.
The Phi Phi islands group consists of six islands. Koh Phi Phi Don is the largest and most populated island of the group. Phi Phi Le is the second largest island. Both Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Le have stunning beaches which are very popular with tourists. Phi Phi Don is 9.73 square kilometers; 8 kilometers in length and 3.5 kilometers wide. Phi Phi Le is 2 kilometers in length and the two islands are about 1.5 km apart. The rest of the islands in the group, including Bida Nok and Bida Nai are not much more than large limestone rocks jutting out of the sea. The Phi Phi islands are easily reached by ferries, speedboats and long-tail boats, most often from ports in Phuket or Krabi town.
Phi Phi Don was initially populated by Thai Malay fishermen during the late-1940s and later became a coconut plantation. The resident Thai population of Phi Phi Don remains more than 80 percent Muslim. In 2018 the resident population was between 2,000 and 3,000 people.
The islands gained worldwide fame when the filming of the 2000 British-American film “The Beach” took place at Maya Bay on Ko Phi Phi Leh.
Phi Phi Le is home to the “Viking Cave” and some locals make a thriving living from harvesting edible bird’s nests. Phi Phi Leh is uninhabited and it features stunning vertical cliffs with green foliage on top and giving way to stunning small sandy beaches and idyllic turquoise sea water. On the southern side of Koh Phi Phi Le lies Loh Sama, a popular bay for snorkeling due to its calm, clear water and many beautiful corals and tropical fish.
Koh Phi Phi was devastated by the Indian Ocean tsunami of December 2004, when nearly the entire infrastructure on the island was destroyed. Since the re-building of Koh Phi Phi after the 2004 tsunami, numerous paved roads cover the majority of Ton Sai Bay and Loh Dalum Bay. However, all roads are for pedestrian use only and push carts are used to transport goods and luggage. The only permitted motor vehicles are official emergency services. As a result, bicycling is the most popular form of transport in Ton Sai.
