Booking Pending Confirmation of Availability: You will receive an automated email reply from our system to acknowledge that your booking has been received in our system, and that it is pending confirmation of availability. Do you offer a discount if I buy several tours with you?

No, we are a tour agent selling tours on commission. We already have some of the lowest and most reasonable prices available. This means our margins are also already low, so for this reason we are not able to offer further discounts.

However, from time to time we offer DISCOUNTS and/or time-limited PROMOTIONS. Promotional Deals or Discounts are confirmed instantly upon booking and all sales are final.

For large group bookings, we may be able to offer some discount. Please inquire via e-mail and well in advance of your intended travel date.

Regularly check the “Hot Deals” and “Special Offers” sections of our website for information on these. Additionally, we recommend that you sign up for our email Newsletter to be informed of any offers.

Can I change my travel date?

Yes, sure you can.
However, all date-change requests and amendments are subject to availability. We cannot guarantee the success of any date-change request.

Please inform us at least two days ahead of your confirmed travel date.

Changes made two days or less from your original travel date may be subject to an additional fee. For multi-day and overnight tours, date changes made within seven days of your confirmed travel date may also be subject to additional fees.

Can Tour Ninja Phuket make amendments to bookings instantly, or must it be approved by the operator first?

In short, no. We need to check with the tour operator first and they will advise us about availability and options.

Can I cancel my booking?

Our standard cancellation policy applies:

  • For cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance of the start date of the experience, a full refund minus payment processing fees.
  • Cancellations made within 48 hours of the start date of the experience will receive no refund.
  • No refunds are available once a tour or service has commenced.
  • No refunds shall be given in the case of a visitor ‘No Show’.
  • Please note that there is no refund issued for bad weather once the tour has started.

What if the weather is really bad when I get picked up for the tour?

It is only the tour operator that can cancel a tour before it starts due to weather conditions. The weather in Phuket often changes rapidly. The weather can be very bad at one instance and change to perfect sunshine soon thereafter. A tour is usually never canceled due to rain, but may be canceled due to strong winds or high seas (waves). Tour operations make these decisions with the safety of customers as the most important consideration. However, if a tour proceeds and you choose to not go on the tour due to the weather, you will lose your booking for the tour with no refund.

What happens if my booking is canceled by the operator?

We will notify you as soon as possible. You can choose one of our offers or get a full refund.

Do you offer a pick up/drop off service?

Yes, we offer a transfer service to/from most hotels. If your hotel is located within the Free Transfer Zone for the tour you are taking, the transfer is FREE. If you are staying outside the tour’s Free Transfer Zone, please refer to your selected tour for information on arranging transfers and the cost. Please note that the free transfer zone does vary from tour to tour; this is generally dependent on the destination of the tour and is determined by the tour operator. We will inform you in each case when you book a tour.

How will I be picked-up for the tour?

The transfer vehicle is usually an air-conditioned minibus or private taxi, although a few operators use a truck-taxi (pick-up truck with covered seating for customers in the back). The transfer vehicle will come to your hotel and the driver will look for you in the lobby. Should he not find you, he will ask for you at the reception desk. After the tour you will be dropped off outside your hotel.

Why do we ask for your room number?

In order to make your transportation experience as smooth as possible. By having your room number, we can quickly and easily contact you through the hotel reception in case you are not waiting in the lobby when we come to pick you up. This way, we can minimize any potential delays and make sure you arrive at your destination on time and in comfort.

What if the minibus or taxi is not coming to pick us up?

Just call our hotline number specified on the tour voucher if the pick-up bus has not arrived 15 minutes after the specified pick-up time on the tour voucher and we will sort it out with the tour operator and call you back. This may occur when the tour operator is picking up other customers before you or due to traffic delays.

It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that you do not board the wrong bus or taxi; check that the driver has your name and hotel on his list of passengers to collect. If the driver does not have your name on his list of customers to collect, it is NOT the correct bus and you should NOT board that vehicle.

PLEASE NOTE: it is your responsibility to provide us with the correct pick-up location and to ensure that you arrive there 15 minutes prior to the scheduled pickup time.

Can I be picked up from private accommodation?

No, we only pick up from hotels or guesthouses.

If you stay in private accommodation you need to find a hotel near you where you can wait in the lobby for the pick-up and advise us of your selected hotel for the pick-up. Please also advise us that you are not staying at this hotel and that you are using it as pick-up and drop-off point for the tour.

PLEASE NOTE: if you are NOT registered as a guest at the hotel you choose as your pickup point, the hotel reception/ lobby staff will NOT know that you are to be picked up from there and when asked by the driver, they may well reply that they do not have anyone by that name staying there.

To minimize any potential mistakes or miscommunication, we strongly recommend that you inform the hotel staff on duty in the lobby, that you are going on a tour and that a driver will soon arrive to collect you for a tour.

Be present in the lobby area and REMAIN there; please do not leave!

PLEASE NOTE: it is your responsibility to provide us with the correct pick-up location and to ensure you arrive there 15 minutes prior to the scheduled pickup time.

Do you pick up cruise ship passengers?

No, we do not pick up cruise ship passengers. This is because there are two different cruise arrival points in Phuket which are quite far from each other. Ship arrival information is not publicly available and where a ship will dock is often only decided on the day of arrival, which makes it impractical for us to arrange a pick-up for you.

Do you offer transport to/from a port or pier?

We are unable to offer a pick-up service from Ao Po Grand Marina Pier, Rassada Pier, Sea Angel Pier, or any other pier, port, or jetty.

A drop off service can be arranged to a port or pier at a rate of ฿1,800/group of 1-8 people.

Please note: Visitors requiring transport (drop off) to these locations must inform Tour Ninja Phuket staff a minimum of 24 hours before their scheduled departure time.

Do you pick up from the airport for tours?

No, we do not pick up from the airport for tours since there are two different terminals; flights may be delayed and the check-out process from the airport may take a long time.

Do you offer airport drop off?

We offer a drop off service to Phuket International Airport for ฿1,800/group of 1-8 people.

Please note: Visitors requiring airport drop-off must inform Tour Ninja Phuket staff a minimum of 24 hours before their scheduled flight departure, and advise us of the size and quantity of any luggage.

Can I drive to the meeting point for the tour using my own transportation?

Yes, by all means, with a few exceptions as mentioned below. Please mention in the comment box when you make your booking that you want to drive to the tour by yourself. We will attach a map and specify the latest arrival time at the meeting point with the tour voucher.

We do not allow customers to use their own transportation for the following tours: Elephant Jungle Sanctuary, Khao Lak Safari and Khao Sok Safari. Please note that no refund will be granted for failure to arrive according to specification on the tour voucher.

Do you pick up in Khao Lak, Phi Phi Islands, Krabi or neighboring islands?

We do not pick up in Phi Phi Islands, Krabi or neighboring islands. For those who stay in Khao Lak we do pick up for the tours that are located close to Khao Lak, such as Similan tours and Khao Sok tours. Please e-mail us for how to make a reservation.

What happens if I do not make the pickup in time (No-show)?

If you are not present for pick-up at the place and time specified on the tour voucher, no refund is applicable on the booking, no matter the reason and any claims need to be submitted by you to your travel insurance company.

In case you are late and the driver has already been to your hotel to pick you up, but you weren’t present at the assigned pick-up time, the driver will move on to the next hotel to pick-up other guests.

In this case, please call us immediately so that we can check with the tour operator if you can still make it in time without causing any delays for other guests. This decision is out of our hands and entirely up to the tour operator. We will advise you ASAP of the tour operator’s decision. If the tour operator agrees that you are still able to join the tour, then you may – at your own expense – use a private taxi or hotel taxi to take you to the tour departure point. In such a case, please contact us once you are with or in the private/hotel taxi, so that we can advise the driver exactly where to deliver you to join the tour.

Do I need travel insurance?

We highly recommend that you obtain personal travel/medical insurance prior to your arrival in Thailand.

We only arrange tours with operations that are fully sanctioned by the TAT (Tourist Authority of Thailand) and all TAT approved operations carry insurance for customers. The tour operator’s insurance coverage extends to accidents or incidents involving personal injury that are directly associated with the tour.

However, please note that lost or damaged personal belongings such as cell phones, cameras, or other items are not included in the tour operator’s insurance policy.

For your own peace of mind, we strongly advise you make sure that you have your own travel/medical insurance and we further suggest that you refrain from bringing any non-essential items or high-value possessions on any tour.

What about tipping?

Customers often ask about tipping tour staff.

Tipping is optional in Thailand and there is no mandatory requirement to tip anyone, so it is entirely up to you; naturally small gratuities for great service are always appreciated by the recipients.

Tipping for exceptional service is quite common in the tourist areas of Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai. The average tipping rate in Thailand is 10%. In rural areas, it is less common to give and to receive tips. However, many hotels and restaurants add 10% to 15% “service charge” to the bill, which already serves as a tip. If there is no service charge on your bill, a 10% tip will be appreciated; we suggest you tip the person directly and do it in cash.

Tour Ninja Phuket does not add any service charge, so if you feel that any staff member has worked hard to make your day a special one, and you want to show your appreciation, then tipping is a tangible way of showing your gratification and will be very much appreciated. As we say in Thai: “Tam jai” (up to you).

ELEPHANTS – What will I see?

Will I see a baby elephant?

While we care for infant elephants from time to time, we cannot guarantee that you will get the opportunity to see or interact with one.

Can I take a picture with elephants?

Yes, absolutely. However, please make sure that you inform a mahout before you do. Also make sure that one of them are nearby when you take pictures. The mahout can provide important information about the particularities of the individual elephants, such as where and when they don’t like being touched, ensuring a safe and respectful interaction for both you and the elephants. Please be mindful of other people in the group and do not linger behind when taking pictures. This will ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Can I pet the elephant?

Some YES, some NO, it depends. Each elephant has its own unique personality and preferences. Some of them do not like to be touched. Some of them can be touched. To ensure your safety, you must always ask your guide before petting any of the elephants. The guide will provide valuable information on the elephant’s temperament and behavior.

Weather Conditions

What is the best time of day to visit the elephant park?

If you are traveling with kids, we strongly recommend the morning session (9.00 a.m.) because it is not too hot for children. They can enjoy the tour. If you do not like the hot temperature, please avoid the afternoon session because it can occasionally get quite warm.

Are you still open if it rains?

Yes, we are open whatever the weather conditions. Elephants love the rain and playing in the mud, and it is magical being in the forest when the rain falls. Usually the park operator provides large golf size umbrellas for protection from heavy rain and strong sun, as well as wellie boots and plastic raincoats if needed.

How hot does it get?

Phuket is either rainy and hot, or dry and hot! Please bring a hat, sunscreen, and if you are prone to sunburn a long-sleeved shirt is also useful for extra protection. Most operators provide chilled purified water throughout the tour.

For the latest 7-day forecast for Phuket weather by the Thai Meteorological Department, see here.

What is Ziplining?

A zipline consists of a steel cable suspended above an incline or across a valley, to which a pulley and harness are attached for a rider, who hangs in the harness below the cable. The incline of the zipline allows gravity to pull the rider along the line. Ziplining is an action-filled recreational activity that involves riding the zipline, usually located to exhibit spectacular sceneries.

Why is Ziplining so much fun?

Ziplining allows you to hang effortlessly in your harness while gravity accelerates you along the zipline. Naturally, the steeper the line, the faster you will go. The adrenaline racing speeds you will reach is one of the closest ways to feel as if you’re flying through the air. You zoom through open forest canopies and an adrenaline rush is guaranteed.

What happens if it rains?

Zipline tours are not affected by light rain and continues to run. If there are heavy rains, lightning, or strong winds, we may have to delay or cancel a tour for your safety. In such cases, we will try to reschedule your tour at the earliest possible time.

What should I wear for Ziplining?

We recommend you wear a long-sleeved shirt and long pants, since it helps to ward off any bug bites. Long shorts are aslo allowed, however you should NOT wear short shorts or a short skirt.
You are required to wear shoes with closed toes, such as sneakers, sport shoes or hiking boots. Do NOT wear flip flops, sandals or high heel shoes. Bring a jacket if you think you might get cold and rain gear in wet weather.

Please remove any dangling jewelry that could get caught in the equipment, tie back long hair so the helmet will fit properly. Secure eyeglasses and sunglasses with a retainer so you do not lose them. If you have protruding body piercings that might get caught on a harness, please remove or tape them over.

Can I wear a hat while ziplining?

Yes, providing it fits securely under your helmet. For your safety, your helmet needs to be securely tightened and cannot be worn loosely.

What equipment will I wear on the zipline?

You must wear one of our helmets, which are adjustable to all head sizes, and an adjustable harness buckled around each leg and your waist.

What can I bring?

It is best to leave valuables at your hotel or in our secured area before you leave. If anything falls from your pocket or otherwise, it will be lost as it cannot be recovered from the forest. No survey devices are allowed.

Can I bring a camera or phone?

Cameras are permitted if they have a strap and can be secured to you, not to our equipment. We suggest point-and-shoot style cameras rather than ones with large lenses. However we are not liable for any loss and it remains your responsibility. Remember that you are going on an adventure that requires active participation — you will need your hands and wits about you.

What is the Minimum weight for Ziplining and why?

You need to weigh at least 20 kg so that you’ll build up the momentum needed to get from one end of the zipline to the other.

What is the Maximum weight for Ziplining and why?

For safety reasons our ziplines, rappels and other features are calibrated to accommodate a range of guests and cannot safely accommodate riders who weigh more than 120 kg.

I don’t want to participate, but I’d like to watch my friends and/or family zipline. Is this possible?

Sorry, but no. Zipline Tours are spread across large areas of land. For safety reasons, access to the course is exclusively limited to employees and guests actively participating in the tour.

How physically demanding are your tours?

Participants should be in good health and prepared for an active tour, but you should know that guests from ages 10 to 80 and older have successfully completed our tours.

During your tour, you’ll be standing and moving around with few opportunities to sit down. The hiking portion is only around 1 km total, but it will take place on inclined, uneven terrain, at elevations where most people get winded faster than when down in the real world. Therefore full range of motion in your arms, shoulders, neck and back is required.

You’ll be expected to follow your guides’ instructions at all times. For safety reasons, if you’re unable to steer and brake as instructed, you’ll be asked to discontinue your tour.

What is an ATV?

An ATV or All Terrain Vehicles is a motorized vehicle designed to be used on dirt roads or generally off-road, specifically not on paved roads or highways. They usually have four wheels on two axles with large balloon-style tires. The rider or driver typically sits on a seat located in the middle between the two axles and steers the vehicle by motorbike-style handlebars.

Is an ATV and a Quad the same?

Most people use the terms interchangeably, however they are not always the same. Basically, a Quad can be an ATV however an ATV is not necessarily a Quad.

In the end, it comes down to the number of wheels that each vehicle has. A Quad is a vehicle with four wheels, as dictated by the name. An ATV can also have four wheels, however it can also have only two wheels, or as many as six wheels. Therefore the term ATV basically is broader and encompasses more types of vehicles than a Quad.

Do I need a Driver’s License to join the tour?

No, we do not require a driver’s license. This is because we are riding off-road and therefore no official license documentation is necessary.

What is the minimum Age for ATV Riders and Passengers?

The minimum age for ATV Riders is 15 years old and the minimum age for passengers is 5 years old.

Will the tour be cancelled if it rains?

Absolutely not, our tours run rain or shine! It is so much more fun to ride ATVs in Phuket’s warm tropical rain. And we supply raincoats in the raining season.

Do I need to be experienced to ride an ATV?

No prior experience is required to drive our ATVs. They are automatic machines that are incredibly easy to master and you will manage to drive in only a few minutes. Also, the entire tour is guided by our experienced riders and guides.

What happens if we have an accident and the ATV is damaged?

An accident is very unlikely, because the entire tour is guided by our experienced riders, and our TVs are very safe and easy to ride. However, accidents can occur and are usually caused by customers ignoring the instructions from our professional ATV guides. If an ATV is damaged by a customer, the driver is liable for 100% of the repairs.

Why do you charge customers for damage to the ATV if they have an accident? Do you not have insurance?

We do have customer insurance, in accordance to the requirements of the Tourist Authority of Thailand (TAT). However this insurance provides limited cover for injuries to customers during accidents caused by the action (or lack of action) of the Tour Operator. This insurance does not cover damage to equipment or vehicles and also not irresponsible or unsafe behavior by customers. If an ATV is damaged by a customer, the driver is liable for 100% of the repairs.

What is the best time of year to take an ATV tour?

Any time of year, it is great to ride all year round.

Will I get seasick? Can I prevent it?

As a general rule, most people do not get seasick on our boats. However, if you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend you to talk to your general medical practitioner before you leave, to find out what medication is most suitable for you.

There are over-the-counter medications that are generally believed to be successful in treating seasickness and even preventing the onset of the typical symptoms of motion sickness, providing they are taken early enough. The most common ones include Dimenhydrinate (common name Dramamine), Meclizine (Bonine), Hyoscine (Kwells), Promethazine and Diphenhydramine (commonly known as Benadryl). On some boats and ships these medications are dispensed freely.

For a natural solution, many people swear by natural ginger tablets, which are readily available from most pharmacies. Another ‘natural’ solution is anti-nausea wrist bands (such as “Sea Bands” and “Blisslets”) that operate on aquapuncture principles. Some swear that eating green apples helps with nausea, while others rely on home remedies like tea.

One of the widely used drug remedies (available only by prescription) is Transderm Scop, a scopolamine patch applied behind the ear at least eight hours before exposure, with effectiveness for up to three days.

When it comes to finding the best prevention for sea sickness, bear in mind that each individual is different and unique, as is their response to medication or treatment. Do not always compare yourself to others, as the best remedy for seasickness will be unique to you and your body.

Will there be English speaking tour guides on board?

Yes, there are always English speaking tour guides onboard.
In accordance with Thai Labour Law, only Thai Nationals may be employed as tour guides.

If I can’t swim, will I still enjoy the tour?

Yes, absolutely. We often have non-swimmers onboard the various trips we do. Phang Nga involves more sightseeing, cave exploring and canoeing, so it holds much more interest for non-swimmers. Phi-Phi also involves sightseeing and stopping at magical islands, so you can explore from the safety of solid ground. For those adventurous yet maybe weak swimmers, we can provide life jackets, floating noodles and even hold your hand through the whole experience. We also try to select snorkeling spots that are protected from the wind and waves and don’t have strong currents.

If I have never snorkeled before, can I join the tour?

Yes, absolutely. Up to 70% of our guests have never snorkeled before, which is why we select appropriate sites and conduct very clear and thorough explanations of how to use the equipment before you enter the water. In a nutshell, snorkeling is an individual experience and we recommend that you keep it as easy as possible when doing it for the first time. For your own safety we recommend that you wear a life jacket at all times while you are in the water. If you prefer not to enter the water, or are a non-snorkeler or a non-swimmer, you are are free to relax onboard and enjoy the view.

If I wear glasses, can I see the fish while snorkeling?

It is not possible to use normal glasses under or with snorkeling masks. Contact lenses are fine to use with a snorkeling mask. Please note that snorkeling tour operators will supply masks and snorkels for you to use, however these are standard masks and they do not provide prescription masks. If you usually wear glasses and cannot see clearly without them, we suggest that you consider acquiring disposable contact lenses, which are readily available at opticians and some pharmacies in Phuket.

What happens in case of an accident or incident?

In the event of any serious accident during the tour (which is fortunately extremely rare) there are clear and straightforward emergency procedures in place:

EVACUATION TO MAINLAND

The first priority is to reach the mainland as quickly as possible, to get the injured in professional care. All boats carry shortwave radios with which they are able to contact the local 24h emergency evacuation provider for this part of the coast. Additionally, most crew members are trained in Emergency First Response procedures to provide assistance along the way.

TRANSFER TO INTERNATIONAL HOSPITAL

Phuket has several Hospitals, some that are close to the pier, but if time permits the local rescue services will usually transfer tourists to one of the International Hospitals in Phuket. The International Hospitals are better equipped to handle any medical emergency and offer specialized treatment of the highest medical standard. The transfer from the pier to the hospital will usually be by ambulance with professional Emergency Rescue staff on board.

ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUES

Authorities such as police, embassy, hospital, insurance companies and relatives require information, documents and reports. Depending on the incident and the severity of the injuries, some of this administration will be our responsibility and we will be there to provide any assistance required.

Fortunately, accidents involving tourists are very few and far between and most tour operators have never had any serious incidents. Tour Ninja Phuket deals with only the best and most reputable tour operations to ensure that any risk of injury or accident are kept to an absolute minimum. At the same time, it is prudent for any professional operation to have plans and procedures in place, and to ensure staff and crews are trained in those procedures, just in case.
